Yang Chung-Tse
Chairman of the Taiwan International Birding Association (Taiwan)
The
Changhua Wild Bird Society was formed in 1991. Not long after, the
Society began a campaign to save the Gray-faced Buzzard-Eagles from
persecution. Yang Chung-Tse, Simon Liao and other Society members
visited elementary schools to speak to the students about saving the
raptors. At that time, Mr. Yang was a CHWBS Director. He and his
family are birders. He is one of the few people in the world to have
seen Chinese Crested Tern.
Yang Chung-Tse served for 8 years on the Changhua City Council and was
Mayor of Shihu Township for 8 years.
During
the election for the Legislature of Taiwan in November, 2004, he stood
as an independent candidate, and was elected.
Mr. Yang is Chairman of the Taiwan International Birding Association
(Taiwan). He has been instrumental in organizing the international
Waterbird Society Conference to be held in Tainan, Taiwan, November
24–27, 2005.
